NDIS STA Enquiry

Deśa Retreat is a boutique coastal respite provider in Jan Juc on the Surf Coast, a home-like environment where NDIS participants can rest, explore and feel genuinely at home.

Our Short Term Accommodation stays are funded under STA or STR in a participant’s NDIS plan. This type of funding exists specifically to give informal carers, family members or others who regularly support a participant, a temporary break from their caring role. The participant stays with us; their carer gets time to rest and recharge at home.

STA generally requires an informal carer to be part of the participant’s everyday life. If a participant lives fully independently, this funding may not be available to them. Not sure? Complete the enquiry below and we’ll work through it with you

NDIS STA – Enquiry Form

NDIS Participant Name
e.g. 123 Main St, Melbourne VIC 3000
Support Coordinator Name
As a NDIS client, are you self or plan managed?
Does the NDIS participant have a carer who supports them day-to-day?
Deśa is built for both NDIS participants and their carers. STA funding generally requires a carer to be part of the participant's day-to-day life. If a participant lives independently, Short Term Respite may not be included in their plan or claimable under STA.
Do you have Short Term Accomodation (STA) written into your plan
Short Term Accommodation (STA) or Short Term Respite (STR) usually needs to be included in your NDIS plan under Core Supports. If you're not sure whether your plan covers this, your support coordinator or plan manager can confirm it for you. Don't have STR/STA in your plan yet? You can still enquire, we'll let you know your options, including staying with us as a private guest.
What level of support will you need during your stay?
Acute Mental Health Assessment
Does the participant have a recent history of, or currently experience, acute mental health challenges, active distress, auditory/visual hallucinations, or suicidal ideation?
